Space Shuttle Explorer was on display at NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) since 1994. NASA decided to move this 123′ long and 54′ high space shuttle replica to Space Center, Houston, TX at NASA Johnson Space Center.

Explorer will transport to the final destination at Space Center Houston, the visitors center at NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX on Sunday, June 03, 2012.

Explorer was loaded on a barge and left Port Canaveral, FL on May 24, 2012 and arrived at NASA Bayou Hilton,Webster, TX on June 01, 2012. This is a Space Shuttle replica was never flew to the International Space Station (ISS).

The trickiest part of the trip was to float this replica under the Kemah-Seabrook Bridge in Galveston, TX. They timed it during the low tide but it was still a pretty tight squeeze for the 54-foot-high spaceship with about 1′ clearance.
